"PT Usha ji, I am sorry...", after Mahua Moitra MP Priyanka Chaturvedi supports women wrestlers

Wrestlers Protest Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has come forward in support of the wrestlers sitting on a dharna against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, chief of the Wrestling Federation of India. At the same time, Priyanka attacked Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha\'s statement in which she criticized the wrestlers.

 

Priyanka Chaturvedi\'s advice to PT Usha

PT Usha on Thursday criticized the wrestlers sitting in protest against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Responding to this today, Priyanka Chaturvedi said that PT Usha has to understand that we need to speak collectively for women sportspersons.

 

Female wrestler fighting for justice

Responding to Usha\'s comments, Chaturvedi said the country\'s image is tarnished when MPs accused of  harassment get away while victims have to fight for justice. He tweeted, \"I\'m sorry ma\'am, we should collectively speak for our players, not accuse them of tarnishing their image.\" They give our country and us a reason to be proud.\"

 

Earlier, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra criticized Usha for accusing wrestlers of \"maligning India\'s image\".

 

PT Usha had said this

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president and Rajya Sabha MP PT Usha had on Thursday said there was a lack of discipline among the wrestlers as they are resuming their protest against Singh, but did not come to me. \"We believe that the IOA has a committee and the Athletes\' Commission for complaints of  harassment.

Let us tell you that many wrestlers, including the country\'s top wrestlers like Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik, have accused the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of  harassment and threats. Wrestlers are now protesting against Brij Bhushan at Jantar Mantar.
