Rajpal Yadav surrendered to Delhi's Tihar Jail a few days ago in a ₹9 crore check-bounce case. Throughout his career, Rajpal Yadav has worked with many major stars, from Amitabh Bachchan to Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Kartik Aaryan, and Varun Dhawan.
The silence of Bollywood, except for Sonu Sood, during the actor's difficult time, has deeply upset fans. Years ago, Amitabh Bachchan attended an event for the same film for which Rajpal Yadav is currently imprisoned, as a special guest, and heaped praise on the comedian.
Amitabh Bachchan called himself fortunate.
Rajpal Yadav's directorial debut, "Aata Pata Lapata," was released in 2012. At the film's music launch, the actor invited the megastar of the century as a special guest. According to reports in the Times of India, Amitabh Bachchan, who attended the music launch of the film, praised Rajpal Yadav, saying, "I am honored that Rajpal Yadav invited me here. It's my good fortune that I worked with him in 'Chhota Don' in the past."
At this event, Big B also spoke openly about Rajpal Yadav's struggles and how he made his place in the industry. Receiving this praise from Amitabh Bachchan, Rajpal Yadav became very emotional and called him the "Bhishma Pitamah" of Hindi cinema.
Rajpal Yadav took a loan for a film in 2010.
For those unaware of Rajpal Yadav's case, let us tell you that in 2010, Rajpal Yadav took a loan of ₹5 crore from a Delhi-based firm, "Murli Projects," to make a film. In 2012, Rajpal Yadav produced the film "Aata Pata Lapata," which he personally directed and produced. The film starred him alongside Ashutosh Rana, Vijay Raaz, Dara Singh, Govind Namdev, Amit Bahl, Asrani, Om Puri, Mukesh Bhatt, Mustaq Sheikh, Razak Khan, Sharat Saxena, Neeraj Sood, Mukesh Tiwari, and Manoj Joshi, among others. Made at a budget of between ₹5 crore and ₹11 crore, the film only grossed ₹3.8 million at the box office, resulting in a loss for the actor.
He was unable to repay the loan due to the film's failure, and with interest and penalties, the amount reached ₹9 crore. All the checks Rajpal Yadav issued bounced. The Delhi High Court granted the actor several extensions, but he was unable to repay the loan. He filed a petition for more time, but the court rejected it, and Abhinav had to go to jail.
