Railways on Saturday successfully tested crowd control measures at New Delhi Railway Station. Under this, the movement of passengers without reservation was restricted to only one platform number 16 and when the demand increased, special trains for Mahakumbh were run from the same platform.

Minister Vaishnaw visited New Delhi Railway Station on Sunday evening and reviewed the arrangements and passenger facilities. He said that the experiment proved successful as it did not cause congestion on other platforms and ensured the smooth departure of devotees going to Maha Kumbh.
Monitoring the sale of tickets without reservation
On the other hand, CPRO of Northern Railway Himanshu Upadhyay said that from 2.30 pm to 11.30 pm on Saturday, we monitored the sale of tickets without reservation every half an hour. It was seen that 969 tickets were sold between 2.30 pm and 3 pm. This number decreased to 466 in the next 30 minutes and fluctuated between 400 to 1,100 till 7 pm.
However, it started increasing after this 2375 tickets were sold for Prayagraj between 6 pm and 7 pm.
2950 tickets were sold between 7 pm and 8 pm, 3429 between 8 pm and 9 pm, 2662 between 9 pm and 10 pm, and 1689 between 10 pm and 11 pm. During this time, a special train was operated every hour for Prayagraj.
