Non-availability of medical facilities is a big problem when a passenger's health deteriorates while traveling on a train. Even after the order of the Supreme Court, the facility medical box is not available as per the standard on trains and railway stations. Taking this seriously, the Railway Board has directed the officers not to be negligent in this matter. A report has been sought from all Zonal Railways in this regard. Only a first aid box is kept in most railway stations or trains. This provides relief to passengers in case of fever, minor injury, or any other general health problem, but if someone becomes seriously ill during the journey, he does not get the necessary treatment on time. To solve this problem, the expert committee of AIIMS, constituted by the Supreme Court, submitted its report to the Director General of Railway Health in December 2017, in which it was said to take several steps to improve health facilities in railway stations and trains.

Advice to make first aid training compulsory at the time of appointment to the employees related to railway station and operations, to give them regular training at an interval of every three years. Availability of medical boxes should be ensured at every train and railway station. It will have 88 items related to treatment including life-saving drugs, medical equipment, and injections. A folding stretcher should be available at the station. In case of illness of a passenger, the service of a doctor should be available on the train or at the nearest railway station.

 

Health facilities available on trains and stations should be reviewed every three years. Medical supplies, life-saving drugs, medical equipment, obstetric kits, oxygen cylinders, syringes, bandages of all sizes, and oxygen defibrillators (through current) should be available in the medical box. heart rate monitoring device) will also be available. Emergency Medical Rooms at Stations Railway Board has also asked to explore the possibility of setting up Emergency Medical Rooms with private participation at important stations. Also said that if this is not possible, then according to the recommendation given by the committee of AIIMS, the arrangement of the medical box should be done compulsorily.
