The Karnataka government gave a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the father of Manoj Kumar, a young man who died in a stampede in Bangalore during the celebration of Royal Challengers Bangalore's victory in IPL. Manoj's father Devraj broke down after receiving the compensation cheque. He said that I had been given a cheque of Rs 25 lakh, but my son would not come back. Devraj said that I would not use this money for myself but for my daughter's future.

Tumkur Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Shubh Kalyan said that the father of the deceased Manoj Kumar has been given an ex-gratia amount of Rs 25 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The DM said that Manoj's father had many dreams for him. He was a topper and had scored more than 85 percent marks in SSLC. He had to go abroad for a job. But the father's dreams could not be fulfilled.
