New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) A delegation of Trinamool Congress MPs Friday met Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari over its Rajya Sabha members being "targeted" by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the multi-crore Saradha scam.
The meeting comes a day after the Supreme Court turned down the West Bengal government and the Trinamool's pleas for court monitoring of the CBI probe into the scam for which several leaders of the state's ruling party including ministers have been arrested or questioned.
"The vice president had given us time and we discussed many issues. The discussions being confidential, I can't reveal the details to the media," Trinamool Rajya Sabha chief whip Derek O'Brien said after meeting Ansari.
The Trinamool had decided to take up the issue with Ansari during the party's core committee meeting Jan 4.
Among the RS members to meet Ansari were Jogen Chowdhury, Nadimul Haq, Ahmad Hassan and Mukul Roy, the party's general secretary.
Roy, a former railway minister, was quizzed by the CBI Jan 30.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ridiculed the Trinamool's meeting with Ansari.
"The Trinamool knows its people are involved in the Saradha scam, that is why they are going to court or knocking some other door. The CBI is probing the matter and the true picture will certainly come out. All these things will not help those who are guilty," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
