After losing power in Madhya Pradesh, Congress in Rajasthan is also suffering from rebels, know-how BJP handles domestic conflicts

On June 17, when four National People's Party (NPP) MLAs withdrew support to the A. Biren Singh-led BJP government in Manipur and threatened to topple the government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership immediately came into action. To deal with the crisis, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda immediately met dissident MLAs and NPP Chief Conard Sanga. By 25 June this crisis was over. With similar intervention, in February, the BJP averted a potential crisis in Karnataka, where many leaders were dissatisfied with not getting a place in the cabinet.

After the rebellion of former Chief Minister Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan from the Congress government, the mechanism for redressal of grievances in parties has attracted attention. This crisis of Congress in Rajasthan has come only a few months after losing the government in Madhya Pradesh. 22 MPs, including Congress veteran Jyotiraditya Scindia, resigned in MP and the BJP government returned to the state. In both incidents, rebels have expressed dissatisfaction with the grievance redressal system.

BJP general secretary and in-charge of Haryana-Chhattisgarh, Anil Jain said that the party has several systems for grievance redressal. He said, "Decisions are taken collectively. This is the rule of the party, not the choice of any person. Therefore collisions do not occur. Our party is not a person-centered. It is based on ideology. ”Jain had bridged the differences between Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his cabinet colleague Anil Vij in Haryana.

Bihar in-charge and general secretary Bhupendra Yadav also reiterates Jain's point on the issue. "The party has a system of redressal of grievances and decisions are taken democratically," he said. One difference is that the highest decision-making unit in the BJP is the Parliamentary Board while the Gandhi family in the Congress. '

A third BJP leader appealed to keep the name confidential and said that tensions and differences occur in all parties and to remove them there are safety valves in all parties. He continued, "Differences between individuals are nothing new. We have seen that this happened between Sardar Patel and Jawaharlal Nehru, between LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In such cases, these leaders were complementary to each other or even surrendered to the other leader. ''

He said that Advani had expressed differences with Vajpayee. There is also a third force in the BJP which sometimes acts as a safety valve - the National Self-Service Association. The BJP leader said, "RSS can be seen as a friend, thinker, and guide." People share their views with RSS officials and also seek advice from them. ''

However, it is also clear that not all conflicts in the BJP are resolved peacefully. Yashwant Sinha, who was the finance and foreign minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, parted ways with the party, alleging that he had been sidelined. He surrounds the Modi government and is one of the harshest critics of the central government these days. In the last few years, leaders like Shatrughan Sinha, Kirti Azad, and Navjot Singh Sidhu split from the party.

Congress leader Pranab Jha refutes that his party grievance redressal system is not good. He says that differences in the BJP are crushed by force. He said, "From LK Advani to Uma Bharti and Sushma Swaraj are examples of this. On the contrary, we are a democratic party. ''

Nilanjan Sircar, Assistant Professor at Ashoka University, says that the Congress structure is not based on ideology, due to which such things are seen more in the party. He said, "This is a fundamental challenge for political parties in India as to how they prevent dissent."
