The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition of the former principal of Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh, challenging the order of the Calcutta High Court. Ghosh had challenged the High Court's order to become a party in the ongoing hearing in the High Court in the case of financial irregularities and to hand over the investigation of financial irregularities against him to the CBI.
The bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, JB Pardiwala, and Manoj Mishra, while dismissing Ghosh's petition, said that what is the justification for him to become a party in the PIL pending in the High Court. How can he become a party in the hearing of the PIL? Ghosh's lawyer Meenakshi Arora said that the High Court has handed over the investigation of bio-medical waste and financial irregularities against him to the CBI. He does not have any objection to the investigation, but the High Court has made many adverse comments against him in the order, which he objects to.
'Will not make any comment, it is a matter of investigation'
Apart from this, the investigation is going on against him for financial irregularities, how can that case be linked to the rape and murder case of a Kolkata doctor. On these arguments, the Chief Justice said that he would not make any comment, it is a matter of investigation. At the time of the rape and murder of the trainee doctor in RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, Sandeep Ghosh was the principal of the medical college, who was later removed.
Investigation of the case handed over to CBI
The High Court, while hearing a PIL accusing Ghosh of financial irregularities, handed over the investigation of the case to the CBI. Earlier, the High Court had also handed over the investigation of the case of brutality with the doctor to the CBI.

The Supreme Court will hear on September 9 the suo motu case related to the rape and murder of a junior doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
