India's star fast bowler Mohammed Shami and his wife, Hasin Jahan, are in the news these days. The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday directed Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami to pay alimony of Rs 4 lakh per month to his wife, Hasin Jahan, and daughter during the ongoing legal battle with him. After this, Hasin Jahan posted something on social media for the first time. She shared a picture on Instagram and wrote a long note in its caption, praising her lawyer. The picture that Hasin has posted is written in Urdu and Hindi.
Hasin Jahan wrote, 'Only Allah gives respect and humiliation.' Hasin wrote in its caption, 'This journey from 2018 to 2025 has been very painful. But fortunately, all my prayers were accepted when I met Calcutta High Court advocate Imtiaz Ahmed. Apart from being a good advocate, he is also a good person, whose heart is as big as a lion. Initially, I discussed with him regarding a case initiated by someone, instigated by Mohammed Shami, which was an FIR dated 17.05.2021 lodged at Suri Police Station under Sections 341/323/307/406/34/504/120B against me and my daughters.'
Hasin Jahan wrote, 'It was a crucial moment, when Imtiaz Bhai took up my case and argued before the Hon'ble Court in an application under Section 482 CrPC and sought quashing of the proceedings. By an order and judgment dated 8th October 2024, the Hon'ble Court quashed the entire proceedings. The allegations leveled against us were completely false and fabricated. I gained confidence, and I realized that Allah has chosen the right person, Imtiaz Ahmed, to defend me in my cases. I met Imtiaz Bhai at the very beginning of the case, and my opinion was that he is very hardworking and dedicated to his profession.'
Haseen Jahan wrote, 'Alhamdulillah later as the days passed I realized that Imtiaz Bhai is an angel with a golden heart. He accepted my case of maintenance and getting me allowance and argued in the honorable court and now I have got the support of the High Court and blessings of Imtiaz Bhai. I do not have words to express my gratitude to Imtiaz Bhai, but I will pray to the Almighty for his good health and fame. Satyameva Jayate.'
Earlier on Tuesday, Haseen Jahan's statement also came. She told the news agency ANI that she used to do modeling before marriage, but her husband asked her to live as a housewife. Talking to news agency ANI, Haseen Jahan said- 'I used to do modeling and acting before marriage. Shami forced me to leave my profession. He wanted me to live the life of a housewife only. I loved Shami so much that I happily accepted this... but now I have no income of my own. Shami will have to take all the responsibility for our maintenance. That is why when he refused, we had to knock on the doors of the court. Thank God that there is a law in our country which orders people to take up their responsibilities... If you are in a relationship with someone, it is not written on his face that he has a bad character, he is a criminal, or he will mess with your and your daughter's future... I too became such a victim... God has forgiven the biggest criminals.'
During this, Hasin Jahan accused Shami of ruining her life. She further said- 'He (Shami) cannot see the safety, future, and happiness of his daughter. He should also give up his stubbornness to ruin Hasin Jahan's life. He cannot ruin me because I am on the path of justice while he is on the path of injustice.' A single bench of Justice Ajay Kumar Mukherjee passed the order to grant alimony. Justice Mukherjee said in his order, looking at the income, financial documents, and income certificate of the opposite party/husband (Mohammed Shami), it is clear that he is in a position to pay a higher amount.
What did lawyer Imtiaz say about the court's decision?
Hasin Jahan's lawyer, Imtiaz Ahmed, has come on this order of the Calcutta High Court. He said- 'This was the best moment for Hasin Jahan. From 2018 to 2024, she kept wandering from door to door ... Finally, yesterday it was decided in open court that Hasin Jahan will be given Rs 1.5 lakh and her daughter Rs 2.5 lakh (both will be paid every month), and whenever the daughter needs help, Mohammed Shami will provide her help. The High Court has directed the trial court to dispose of the main application of the interim order within six months. There is a high possibility that when they return to the trial court to complete the hearing on maintenance, it will be increased to Rs 6 lakh as Hasin Jahan had claimed Rs 7 lakh and Rs 3 lakh in her maintenance application.'
Shami will give Rs 1.5 lakh to his wife and Rs 2.5 lakh to his daughter per month
The order passed by Justice Ajay Kumar Mukherjee of the High Court said, 'In my opinion, an amount of Rs 1,50,000 per month to petitioner number one (Hasin Jahan) and Rs 2,50,000 to her daughter would be appropriate to ensure financial stability for both the petitioners till the matter is settled.'
