US President Donald Trump had expressed his desire to win the Nobel Prize on several occasions. Trump finally received a Nobel Prize, albeit indirectly. Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado gave her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump.

 

 

The American president was overjoyed upon receiving the award. When the first photo of Machado presenting the Nobel to Trump emerged, the happiness on the American president's face was clearly visible.

Trump said, "It's an honor for me."

After receiving the Nobel Peace Prize from Maria Corina Machado, Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, "She is a wonderful woman who has suffered so much." Trump further wrote, "Machado giving me her Nobel is a wonderful sign of mutual respect."

 

 

After the meeting at the White House, Trump praised the Venezuelan leader, saying, "Machado gave me her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done." A White House official told Reuters, "US President Trump wants to keep the Nobel Prize."

 

 

Can Machado give her Nobel to Trump?

The Nobel Institute said, "Machado cannot give her Nobel Prize to Trump. This is an honor that Trump has long desired. This step, although symbolic, is an extraordinary event."

 

 

The Nobel Institute further stated that Trump has completely sidelined Machado, even though Maria Corina Machado has long been the face of resistance against the Nicolás Maduro government in Venezuela.
