The year 2022 is going to be very special for OTT platforms. Many big Bollywood stars will hit the OTT ground this year, including Ajay Devgn. Ajay is making his OTT debut with Disney Plus Hotstar's web series Rudra - The Age of Darkness and now preparations have started to release this series, under which the release date will be announced along with the trailer first.
According to Disney Plus Hotstar, the trailer of Rudra will be released on Saturday. The platform has given this information through a poster released with Ajay Devgan's look. Esha Deol, Rashi Khanna, Ashwini Kalsekar, Atul Kulkarni, Ashish Vidyarthi, Milind Gunaji, and Luke Kenny will be seen in important roles along with Ajay in this series. Ajay announced this web series with Disney Plus Hotstar with a teaser on April 20 last year.
Ajay will be seen in the character of an undercover police officer in this series, which will be different from his cop avatars till now. The series has been shot at the iconic locations of Mumbai. The series is jointly produced by Applause Entertainment and BBC Studios.
The Indian adaptation of the British series
Ajay's digital debut web series is the Indian adaptation of the British psychological crime drama series Luther. Idris Elba played the role of DCI John Luther in the Neil Cross-composed series. Idris was in the role of an undercover police officer. Alice Morgan played the role of Ruth Wilson. There have been 5 seasons of this show between 2010 and 2019. The first season had 6 episodes. It was broadcast on BBC One. Now it remains to be seen how many episodes are kept in the first season of the Indian adaptation. Hotstar has earlier brought out the Indian adaptation of the British series Doctor Foster's Out of Love and Criminal Justice with the same title Indian adaptation.
By the way, Ajay has made his OTT debut as a producer with Tribhanga, which was released on Netflix, and this year his production web series The Great Indian Murder is going to come on Disney Plus Hotstar. Ajay's previous film Bhuj - The Pride of India was also streamed on Disney Plus Hotstar.
