Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami has challenged the Supreme Court's order rejecting the bail application in the High Court. On this, a bench hearing of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Indira Banerjee took place on Wednesday. The court reprimanded the Uddhav government that if the state governments target a person, they should feel that we (the apex court) will protect it.
Senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for Arnab's plea in the apex court, demanded a CBI inquiry into the case. At the same time, on Arnab's petition, the Maharashtra government had filed a caveat saying that no order should be issued without hearing his side.

Our democracy is exceptionally flexible. The Maharashtra government should ignore all this.
If a person's freedom is curbed, it will be a suppression of justice.
Does the Maharashtra government need to be questioned in this matter in custody?
We are struggling with the issue of personal freedom.
If the constitutional courts do not interfere, we are on the way to destruction.
We are hearing in this case because neither the High Court was able to get bail nor could it safeguard personal freedom.
What is the matter?
In 2018, Arnab and two others were arrested by the Raigad police on November 4 in a case of abetting interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother for suicide. Later, the court sent them to judicial custody till 18 November. Arnab is currently lodged in Taloja jail.
