Chennai, Feb 10 (IANS) Leaders of different political parties in Tamil Nadu Tuesday welcomed the sweeping victory of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi assembly polls.
Just eight months after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government came to power at the centre, the people have rejected it, MDMK general secretary Vaiko said.
In a statement, Vaiko said the people of Delhi have proved that India is one of the best democratic nations in the world and the Delhi poll results reflect the people's anger against the central government headed by the BJP.
It is a Himalayan victory in Delhi for the Aam Aadmi Party, Vaiko said.
"The people have totally rejected the BJP government that acted as an agent for multinational companies in just eight months," Vaiko said.
Vaiko, a former ally of the BJP, said people in Delhi swept away the national party with the broom (AAP's poll symbol) and dumped it in the dustbin.
PMK founder S. Ramadoss attributed AAP's victory to the people wanting corruption-free governance.
He said people in Delhi believed AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal would fulfil their aspirations and voted him to power.
According to D. Pandian, CPI's Tamil Nadu secretary, the Delhi poll verdict reflects the popular feelings of the people across the country.
