BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that BCCI has not approached any Australian cricketer for the role of head coach of the Indian team. Let us tell you that after the end of T20 World 2024, Rahul Dravid's tenure as head coach will also end.
In such a situation, the Indian Board has invited applications for the new head coach of the Indian team. At the same time, some reports had claimed that BCCI had contacted veterans like former Australian captain Ricky Ponting and former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, but BCCI Secretary Jay Shah called this report false.
Jay Shah said that former Australian players were not contacted
Jay Shah recently said that no Australian player was approached to become the coach of Team India. Shah clearly said that whatever such news was spread in the media was completely false. He made it clear that finding the head coach of Team India is a detailed and precise process.
Jay Shah further said that neither I nor BCCI have offered any former Australian cricketer for the head coach of the Indian team. All the reports spread in the media section are wrong. When we talk about international cricket, there is no more prestigious role than the head coach of the Indian cricket team.
He further said that Team India has a world-class fan base, which enjoys unmatched support. Ours is prosperous. Our rich history and passion for sports make it one of the most attractive jobs in the world. This role demands a high level of professionalism. Fulfilling the aspirations of a billion fans is a great honor and BCCI will select the right candidate who is capable of taking Indian cricket forward.
Let us tell you that recently Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting had revealed that they had received an offer from BCCI to take over the post of head coach. However, both of them refused to accept this offer. Now the BCCI Secretary termed the claims of former Australian players as false.
