PM Modi: Rishi Sunak met PM Modi with his family, India-UK relations were discussed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and praised him as a great friend of India. PM Modi expressed happiness over meeting Rishi Sunak and his family through a post on X.

 

The Prime Minister said that during this meeting he had a wonderful conversation on many important and diverse topics. He wrote on X that he is looking forward to further strengthening the relationship between India and Britain.

He also said that Sunak's affection and spirit of cooperation towards India has always been strong and this meeting can prove to be an important step in the relations between the two countries. Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met Rishi Sunak. In this meeting, the two leaders discussed new ways to strengthen market-based financial relations and promote economic growth.

 

The Finance Ministry said in its internet media post that in this meeting, the two leaders considered possible measures to promote financial cooperation. Minister Nirmala Sitharaman discussed common interests for the Global South (developed countries) under the G7 agenda and underlined the importance of pursuing these issues through the Commonwealth.

 

Advocated strengthening India-UK relations

 

Earlier, Sunak visited the Taj Mahal with his family on February 15. Sunak met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Delhi on February 17. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar appreciated Sunak's continued support in strengthening India-UK relations.

 

Sunak visited Parliament House with family.

 

Former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak arrived at Parliament House on Tuesday with his family. He was accompanied by a Rajya Sabha member and his mother-in-law Sudha Murthy, wife Akshata, and children. Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh welcomed him in the Parliament House complex.

 

During this, Sunak visited the Parliament House complex with his family and looked closely at its architecture. During this, he looked excited. Sunak also saw the gallery, chamber, and copy of the Constitution of the Parliament House.
