The central government, which has gone against the order of the Karnataka High Court on the issue of oxygen supply, has received a major setback from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court rejected the plea of the Central Government, in which it had approached the Supreme Court against the Karnataka High Court's order to provide 1200 MT of oxygen. The Supreme Court said that the Karnataka High Court's order to supply 1200 metric tonnes of oxygen to the state to the Center has been given after thorough scrutiny and under judicious use of power.
The Supreme Court in its order on Friday said that we will not interfere in the order of the Karnataka High Court, because the High Court has conducted a calibrated exercise and we do not see any reason for interfering in it. Justice Chandrachud said that according to Karnataka on 3.95 lakh cases of the corona, 1700 metric tons of oxygen is needed. Karnataka has a minimum requirement of 1100 metric tons of oxygen.
Let us tell you that in the order of the Karnataka High Court in the past, for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, the state was instructed to increase the daily supply of liquid therapeutic oxygen (LMO) from 965 MT to 1200 MT. Subsequently, the case was heard in the Supreme Court on Thursday and before the bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that 965 MT LMOs were being supplied to the state at present and on that order Need to stop immediately. The bench then said that it would look into the documents before passing any order in the matter.
At the same time, on the oxygen crisis in Delhi, the Supreme Court has advised the Central Government that you should not force us to take a strong decision. The Supreme Court has said this about the supply of 700 metric tons of oxygen to Delhi every day. On behalf of the Delhi government, it was said in the court that even after its order, 700 metric tonnes of oxygen is not being supplied every day. The apex court has ordered the central government to ensure the supply of 700 metric tonnes of oxygen to Delhi every day. The court said that it would have to continue this supply until the order is reviewed or there is no change.
