Mock drills were organized in various hospitals across the country on Tuesday on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be prepared to deal with any situation because of the rapidly increasing cases of Covid-19 in many other countries including China. It tested how ready are our hospitals and other resources to deal with the epidemic. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that a mock drill will help us to know at what level what is lacking and we will rectify them in time.

Mandaviya himself also inspected the mock drill at the Centre-run Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, while the health ministers of the states reviewed the mock drill at their respective places. Explain that the Center had asked the states and union territories to conduct a mock drill on December 27 as a precautionary measure after increasing infection in China and other countries. The mock drill focused on parameters like the availability of health facilities in all districts, the capacity of isolation beds, oxygenated beds, ICU beds, and ventilators, and the availability of doctors, nurses, paramedics, AYUSH doctors, ASHA, and other frontline workers including Anganwadi workers.

The Health Minister said that it was necessary to conduct a mock drill to know how prepared and capable our hospitals are to deal with any situation. He said that this mock drill took place in all government and private hospitals. He said that the cases of Covid infection are increasing rapidly all over the world and an increase in cases is also being seen in India. It is, therefore, important that the entire COVID infrastructure is assessed in terms of equipment, processes, and human resources to see if it is fully disaster prepared or not. During this, the Health Minister urged everyone to follow the Covid guidelines. Said- Take all precautions including wearing a mask. He also asked people to avoid sharing unverified or misleading information.
