IPL 2024: Virat Kohli's stormy innings kept RCB in the playoff race, Punjab Kings' hopes dashed

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Punjab Kings by 60 runs in the 58th match of IPL 2024 on Thursday. With this victory, RCB has kept alive its hopes of reaching the playoffs. At the same time, the Punjab Kings' hopes of reaching the playoffs are over. After Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings became the second team to be eliminated from the playoff race.


 

The hero of RCB's victory was Virat Kohli, who scored 92 runs in just 47 balls with the help of seven fours and six sixes. Based on excellent innings by Kohli and Rajat Patidar (55), RCB scored 241 runs after losing seven wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Punjab Kings team was all out after scoring 181 runs in 17 overs.


 

RCB's fourth consecutive win

RCB hit a four to win. With this win, RCB has 10 points from 12 matches. Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore team has reached seventh place in the points table of IPL 2024. At the same time, Punjab Kings have 8 points in 12 matches and now they will take the field for their credibility in the next two matches.


 

Punjab will be able to spoil the game

Punjab will have a golden opportunity to spoil the game of Sunrisers Hyderabad, with whom they will face in the last match of their league stage on May 19. Before this, it will face Rajasthan Royals on 15th May. On the other hand, RCB has to play its last two matches against Delhi and Chennai respectively. RCB will try to enter the playoffs by winning both these matches.
