Rana Sanga: Ruckus in Rajya Sabha over SP MP's statement on Rana Sanga, BJP adamant on Ramji Suman and Kharge's apology

Posted on 28th Mar 2025 12:52 pm by rohit kumar

There was a lot of uproar in the Rajya Sabha on Friday during the budget session of Parliament. BJP protested against the comment made by SP MP Ramji Lal Suman on Rana Sanga. BJP MPs also targeted Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge. BJP alleges that Kharge is trying to link the matter to caste. BJP has demanded that no compromise will be made until Ramji Suman and opposition leader Kharge apologize in the matter.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman had called Rana Sanga a traitor in the Rajya Sabha on March 21. The uproar that started on this still does not seem to stop. He had said something about Babar and Rana Sanga that he came under the target of many BJP leaders. BJP has demanded an apology from Ramji Lal Suman.

BJP MP Dr. Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal raised the issue

BJP MP Dr. Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal raised the issue of SP MP Ramji Lal Suman's statement on Rajput king Rana Sanga. Only after this, the uproar started in the Rajya Sabha. The BJP MP said, 'Until the Congress and Ramji Suman apologize, we will not compromise on this issue.'

What is the matter?

BJP MPs and ministers condemned the remarks of Samajwadi Party leader Ramji Lal Suman against Rajput king Rana Sanga and created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha demanding an unconditional apology. As soon as the proceedings of the House started, BJP MPs started sloganeering.

Jagdeep Dhankhar intervened

Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar also had to intervene in the matter. He described the Rajput king as a national hero. He mentioned his bravery and called the remarks against him insulting. He said that members should be careful and maintain dignity while speaking on sensitive issues.

BJP furious over Mallikarjun Kharge's statement

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that he and his party respect all the patriots who fought for the country and sacrificed their lives, but no one has the right to take law and order into their own hands and break into an MP's house and vandalize it. He referred to the attacks on Suman's house and property after his controversial statement. He asserted that such anti-Dalit action will not be tolerated. Kharge's remarks infuriated the ruling party.

BJP also demanded an apology from Kharge

BJP's Radha Mohan Das Aggarwal said, 'Suman has reiterated that he will not take back his words and will stand by them for the rest of his life.' He said that this is an insult and no one will tolerate it. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also stated the matter. He said that Suman's statement was insulting and highly condemnable. Rijiju said that he condemned Kharge's comment that Suman's house was attacked because he was a Dalit. He said that this is not a caste or religious issue. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that Kharge is trying to turn the matter towards caste and this is condemnable.

Proceedings adjourned after sloganeering by BJP MPs.

Responding to this, Kharge said that whether it is Rana Sanga or Maharana Pratap, all the heroes were very respectable persons. He said that his objection is to the use of violence, because the Constitution does not allow it. On this, Suman stood up to speak, but the BJP MPs started sloganeering. Dhankhar said that whatever Suman has said will be recorded, but the sloganeering did not stop and he had to adjourn the proceedings till 12 noon.

Uproar in political circles from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh

This statement of the SP MP created an uproar in political circles from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh. BJP leaders expressed anger and condemned the statement.

What did Ramji Lal Suman say?

Suman was speaking on the review of the Home Ministry's work in Rajya Sabha last Friday. During this, he said that it has become a catchphrase of the BJP people that Muslims have Babur's DNA. After all, who brought Babur? Rana Sanga brought Babur to India to defeat Ibrahim Lodhi. If Muslims are the descendants of Babur, then you are the descendants of the traitor Rana Sanga.

He had said that the job of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister is to maintain social and religious harmony in the country. This country is a home. It is the responsibility of the Home Ministry to ensure that there is no tension in this home. It is unfortunate that recently there was no unified voice from the Muslims on Holi, despite this, wrong statements were made. Two MLAs from UP and Bihar said that Muslims should be imprisoned in their homes on Holi. There was never a program on Holi in Aligarh Muslim University. An attempt was made to forcibly organize a celebration there. The local public representative said that whoever opposes this program will be sent to the top. Is there a rule of law or a jungle in our country?

'The ideals of Muslims are the tradition of Mohammed Saheb and Sufi saints'

He said that the central and state governments never oppose people who say such things. This means that the government supports such people. In the national movement, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians all fought under one flag. The ideal of the Muslims of Hindustan can never be Babar. The ideals of Muslims are the tradition of Mohammed Saheb and Sufi saints.
