Team India won a very important match against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup on Wednesday. India won the Super-12 Group-2 match by 5 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis rule.
Now India is almost certain to reach the semi-finals. We have got 6 points and no other team can go beyond 6 points in this group except South Africa. India will now play their last match against Zimbabwe on 6 November. After the victory over Zimbabwe, Team India will have 8 points and then the path to the semi-finals will be confirmed.
However, there were 5 factors in the match against Bangladesh, which made it easy for India to win.
First: KL Rahul's return to form at the right time
Opener Lokesh Rahul was failing in the first 3 matches of the World Cup. In these matches, he could not even touch the 10-run mark even once. There was a demand for him to be dropped from the playing 11, but coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma expressed confidence in the opener. Rahul returned to form against Bangladesh and made 50 off 32 balls. He hit 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Second: Strong partnership between Virat and Rahul
India's first wicket fell early. Captain Rohit Sharma got out after scoring 2 runs in 8 balls. In difficult conditions, Rahul and Virat Kohli added 67 runs in the partnership of the second wicket. This brought the Indian innings back on track.
Third: Virat's excellent form continues
Virat has so far scored 3 half-centuries in 4 matches in this World Cup. Against Bangladesh, he first handled the Indian innings as well. Then a great finish. Batting at a strike rate of 145, Virat scored 64 runs in 44 balls. He was not out till the end and thanks to his batting, Team India could reach the score of 184/6.
Fourth: Great improvement in fielding
The Indian team had dropped 5 catches in its three matches of this World Cup. Many run-out chances were also left. The defeat against South Africa was due to poor catching and fielding. Although Karthik dropped two catches at the beginning against Bangladesh too, when the match resumed after rain, the fielders did not make any mistakes. Surya took two good catches in the deep.
Deepak Hooda, who came as a substitute fielder, took the best catch of Shakib Al Hasan. Earlier, Rahul returned the pavilion to Liton Das, who was batting stormy through a direct throw from the boundary.
Fifth: Arshdeep continues, taking two wickets in an over
In reply to India's 184/6, Bangladesh had scored 66 runs in 7 overs without losing a wicket. Bangladesh got a target of 151 runs in 16 overs due to rain. In 11 overs, the team score was 99 runs for two wickets. 52 runs were needed in the last 5 overs. Shakib and Afiq were at the crease.
Here Arshdeep Singh came to bowl and broke the back of Bangladesh's middle order by first dismissing Afif and then Shakib in the same over. Arshdeep bowled 3 of the last 5 overs. Due to his amazing performance in the death overs, India won the match by 5 runs.
