Jee Karda Review: Prime Video series tightening marriage on the test of friendship, Tamannaah Bhatia sets the tone

Love, friendship, and marriage is such a subject, which has been presented on screen by interweaving different stories, but their appeal does not diminish. The entire theme of Prime Video's web series Ji Karda revolves around these three words.

The series tries to find the fine line between friendship and love through the lead characters. Sometimes this line is so fine that it is very difficult to differentiate, but when it is realized that the one who is loved, it is not necessary to marry the same person or someone who cares a lot, then it doesn't need to be an invitation for marriage.

Ji Karda is such a light-hearted tale of emotional complications, which does not allow its plot to become too cumbersome.

What is the story of 'Jee Karda' series?

It is the story of seven friends in their thirties who have been with each other since childhood. After completing school and college, they are busy in their respective businesses. The story primarily revolves around Tamannaah Bhatia's character Lavanya and Suhel Nayyar's character Rishabh.

On the third wedding anniversary of his friends Sameer and Sheetal, Rishabh proposes to Lavanya for marriage. This is where Lavanya's confusion begins. She doesn't understand whether she wants to marry Rishabh or not. This confusion is when both live in a live-in relationship.

Lavanya's inclination is toward Arjun, which is also a major reason for her confusion. As the date of the wedding draws near, the two start facing unimaginable problems. There are ups and downs in the lives of other friends as well.

What are the direction and dialogues of the series?

The series is directed by Arunima Sharma, who also wrote the film along with Abbas and Hussain. With the beginning of the series of a total of eight episodes, the story is understandable as to what is going to happen next, but it is made interesting through the screenplay and dialogues.

Zee Karda is spread over eight episodes titled Will You Marry Me, Baby Tu Toh Shark Hai, Feel It, Fight It, Blood Moon, Jawaaniyan, Yaar Ki Shaadi, Stardust, and The Big 30. The scenes keep swinging between the present and the past.

The first episode begins with the childhood of these seven in 2006. They go to an astrologer at the fair, who advises them all to avoid one thing. Some are advised by their father and some by friends to avoid them. Astrologer advises Lavanya to avoid 22 i.e. the year 2022. After this, the scene changes and the story shows the present life of all these characters in 2022.

Some scenes come in the series, which go out in the flow of the narrative, but if paid attention to, they leave a deep impact. No matter how modern and educated society becomes, what to do with that thinking, is almost impossible to change.

For example, when Lavanya reaches office after getting a marriage proposal, at a surprise party organized to celebrate her promotion in the job, one of her colleagues sarcastically asks why do you need a promotion, now that you are married. It's going to be

In another scene, Anya Singh's young student is telling her his problem is that his father does not have an expensive car, due to which he is getting a breakup. Both of these reveal the psychology of different generations. However, some scenes may seem over the top. The normalization of live-in relationships is a bit startling.

How is the acting of the actors?

The artists have left no stone unturned to play them according to the extent of the writing and the portrayal of the characters. Tamannaah has done a commendable job in the role of a confused girl about marriage in the discussion about her relationship with Vijay Verma in real life. This is his first Hindi web series.

The bonding between all the actors impresses and the viewer can relate to it. Some scenes of Tamannaah, Samvedna Suwalka, and Anya Singh are effective. Aashim Gulati, Suhail Nayyar, Hussain Dalal, and Sayan Banerjee are natural in their roles. Simone Jamey plays Lavanya's free-spirited mother.

Cast- Tamanna Bhatia, Samvedna, Aashim Gulati, Suhail Nayyar, Hussain Dalal, Sayan Banerjee, Simone Singh etc.
