UN Praises India: Import of commercial wheat from India is the main supply line for Yemen: UN

The deputy relief chief of the United Nations has said that commercial wheat imported from India is serving as a major supply line for Yemen affected by the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

 

 

The UN Deputy Relief Chief's statement came after India informed the Security Council that India has exported 250,000 tonnes of wheat to Yemen in the last three months.

 

 

United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator Joysy Msuya has said that wheat shipments from India are providing vital supply lines to Yemen, the West Asian country affected by the Russo-Ukraine war.

 

Before this statement of the UN official, Prakash Gupta, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, said that India is supplying economic aid and food items to Yemen amid the supply chain affected amid the Russo-Ukraine war in the world, so that there Ensure food security is maintained.

 

Speaking about this, he has also informed the Security Council that India has supplied more than 250,000 wheat to Yemen during the last three months.
