More than 200 air travelers found corona infected: Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Wednesday that during random sampling at international airports, more than 200 air passengers were found to be Corona positive. BF.7 variants have been confirmed in many of these samples. On the sidelines of the release of a book, Mandaviya said, "More than 15 lakh air passengers were tested for corona. Out of which more than 200 passengers were found to be Corona positive. Their samples sent for genome sequencing revealed that many passengers had the BF.7 subvariant. Our vaccines are effective against the BF.7 variant.

 

Mandaviya said, “Amidst the fourth wave of Corona in the world, we are monitoring every airport. So far 8700 flights have been monitored. He released the book 'Braving a Viral Storm' written by Ashish Chandorkar and Suraj Sudhir at the Constitution Club.

 

171 new cases of corona found The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday that 171 new cases of corona infection have been found in the country in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases in the country is 2342. Active cases comprise 0.01 percent of the total infections. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.09 percent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 0.11 percent. A total of 220.15 crore doses of vaccine have been administered under the nationwide vaccination campaign. Meanwhile, according to Reuters, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Wednesday that the XBB sub-variant may increase corona infection.
