Weather Update: Heavy rain in 21 states including Delhi-UP, railway line caved in, Badrinath Highway closed due to landslides

Amidst the G-20 summit, the weather patterns changed in 21 states including the national capital. Heavy to very heavy rain occurred from west to east and from north to south in India including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. Rail and road traffic was badly affected in UP. At the same time, due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Badrinath National Highway was closed due to landslides.

 

Due to heavy rains in Rajasthan, the Jhansi-Delhi track caved in between Hetampur-Dholpur of the Jhansi division on Sunday morning. Trains were hastily stopped at various places after ballast and soil caved in from under the track. Due to this, rail traffic was affected for about four and a half hours. At the same time, 20 trains including Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, Gatimaan, and Rajdhani were delayed for hours. Railways canceled two passenger trains.

 

 

Roads became ponds in Moradabad, tracks filled with water

Roads became inundated due to heavy rains in Moradabad. Water entered the colonies. Rail operations between Moradabad and Bareilly came to a standstill due to the submergence of the railway track near Mundhapande. Due to this, eight trains of the Moradabad division including Kathgodam-Jaisalmer, and Kathgodam-Dehradun had to be cancelled.

 

Water on roads in Ghaziabad, the car fell into a pit

Roads were flooded due to heavy rain in Ghaziabad. Water has entered many colonies. People are imprisoned in their homes. The vehicles were moving submerged in water. A car lost control and overturned in a mid-road pit in Lalkuan.

 

38.6 mm of water in Delhi, the temperature dropped by 50

Due to rain, the mercury in Delhi dropped by five degrees Celsius below normal. The maximum temperature was recorded at 28.3 degrees Celsius. Till Sunday morning, 38.6 mm rainfall was recorded in 24 hours.

 

First snowfall of the season on high peaks in Uttarakhand

Along with the rain for three days, the first snowfall of the season also occurred in Chamoli on Sunday. Due to rain and snowfall, the cold has started in Badrinath Dham, Hemkund Sahib, and Valley of Flowers. Apart from the hills of Kedarnath, there has been snowfall on other peaks including Neelkanth, Nar Narayan mountain of Badrinath Dham.
