Uniform Civil Code: Suggestions sought from public and religious organizations in 30 days, Law Commission starts an exercise

The Law Commission on Wednesday started the process of seeking a fresh consultation on the issue of the Uniform Civil Code. The commission has sought opinions from public and religious organizations on the issue. In a statement, the Center said, "The subject was initially examined by the 21st Law Commission of India on the Uniform Civil Code and the questionnaire dated 07.10.2016 and subsequently the public appeals/ appeals dated 19.03.2018, 27.03.2018 and 10.4.2018. The views of all the stakeholders were sought through its appeal along with the notice.

 

The 21st Law Commission talked about improving family laws

The statement said, “Under the earlier exercises, the commission has received an overwhelming response. The 21st Law Commission issued a consultation paper on "Reforms of Family Law" on 31.08.2018. WHEREAS more than three years have elapsed from the date of issue of the said consultation paper, keeping in view the relevance and importance of the subject and the various court orders on the subject, the 22nd Law Commission of India has taken a fresh view on the subject It is considered appropriate to discuss. The commission has issued a notice inviting people to send their suggestions on the Uniform Civil Code in the next 30 days."

 

Interested organizations can give their suggestions within 30 days

The 22nd Law Commission of India has again decided to seek the views of the public at large and recognized religious organizations regarding the Uniform Civil Code. Those who are interested may send their views to the commission within 30 days from the date of the notice.
