Now, this voting is to be held on March 8 and only after that, it will be decided whether Eric Garcetti will be the new US Ambassador to India or whether a new name can be considered.

The White House has issued a statement saying that Eric Garcetti is fully qualified to be the US Ambassador to India. Eric Garcetti was nominated by President Joe Biden in July 2021. However, the name of Eric Garcetti is being opposed by some leaders of the party itself and the opposition. Please tell that Garcetti has been a former mayor of Los Angeles and during his stay as mayor, he was accused of molesting his staff. This is the reason why Garcetti's name is being opposed by some MPs from the opposition Republican Party and the Democratic Party itself. Due to this Eric Garcetti's name was not finalized by the previous Congress.
Last January, Joe Biden announced Eric Garcetti's name again. In such a situation, Bob Mendez, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, called a meeting on February 28 to finalize Eric Garcetti's nomination to Congress. Now, this meeting has been postponed and the committee will vote on March 8. Only then will Eric Garcetti's name be final. The White House is supporting Eric Garcetti despite the allegations.
