Amid the ongoing war in West Asia, the United States successfully tested its "Doomsday" ballistic missile off the California coast on Tuesday night. The missile, called "Minuteman III," is extremely lethal and capable of carrying a nuclear warhead 20 times more powerful than the one dropped on Hiroshima. It was launched at 11 p.m. from Vandenberg Space Force Base near Santa Barbara.

The US Space Force reported that the rocket, named "GT 254," was launched without any weapons. It accurately hit its intended target near the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Air Force Global Strike Command stated that the missile was fired to test its accuracy and readiness.

Lieutenant Colonel Kerry Ray, commander of the 576th Flight Test Squadron, said in a press release that the test helped assess the functionality of various components of the missile system. He added that such tests can further strengthen and prepare the ground component of the nation's nuclear force.

This test comes after the US and Israel recently attacked Iran, killing Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, sparking a war across the region. President Trump has threatened to escalate attacks on Iran and stated that a major attack is imminent. However, Air Force Global Strike Command clarified that Tuesday's test was routine and had been planned for years.
