US's clarification on the package of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan, Jaishankar said - who are you fooling

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has questioned the US sanctioning $450 million (Rs 3,651 crore) to Pakistan for the upgrade of the F-16 Fighter Jet. He said that Americans have no interest in the relationship between Pakistan and America.

 

Speaking at an event organized by the Indian-American community in Washington on Sunday, he said, "The relationship between Islamabad and Washington does neither the Pakistanis nor the Americans." He further said, 'America should think about its relationship with Pakistan, what it has gained from this.'

 

You can't fool - Jaishankar

 

Jaishankar said, 'I am saying this because it is anti-terrorism material. When you're talking about aircraft like the capability of the F-16... everybody knows, you also know where the planes are deployed and what they're being used for. You cannot fool anyone by saying these things.

On being questioned by India, America clarified this. America had said in its clarification that this aid to Pakistan was not given to send a message to India. This assistance has been given to cooperate in the campaign against terrorism in Pakistan. The US had said that this would also protect Pakistan's nuclear weapons.
