Former Indian captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth has made a strong appeal to the BCCI regarding young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Srikkanth believes that just as Sachin Tendulkar was given a chance in the Indian team at a young age, Vaibhav Suryavanshi should also be included in the senior setup soon. He emphasized prioritizing Vaibhav's talent, consistency, and ability to perform under pressure over his age.
Record-Breaking Performance Creates a Stir
Vaibhav Suryavanshi recently grabbed the attention of the cricket world when he became the youngest batsman to score a century in List A cricket. In a Vijay Hazare Trophy match, he played an explosive innings of 190 runs off just 84 balls. During this innings, he hit 15 sixes and completed his century in just 36 balls. His innings completely overwhelmed the bowlers and presented a strong case for selection.
'Runs at Every Level, Impact in Every Format'
Srikkanth is highly impressed by Vaibhav's consistency. From the youth level to domestic cricket, Vaibhav has consistently scored big runs. In 15 Youth ODI matches, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has an average of 51.13, including two centuries and three half-centuries. His strike rate is 158.79, which reflects his aggressive batting and understanding of modern cricket.
'Sachin Also Played at This Age'
Srikkanth completely rejected the idea of making Vaibhav wait any longer and appealed to the selectors to take a bold decision, citing Sachin Tendulkar's example. On his YouTube channel ‘Cheeky Chaka’, he said, "Vaibhav is scoring centuries everywhere, whether it's the IPL, Under-19, or any other level. You might say it's against Arunachal Pradesh, but that's a different matter."
'The Boy Has Tremendous Potential'
Srikkanth said, "This boy is tearing apart every team in every kind of match. I said last year too that he should be fast-tracked for the T20 World Cup. Maybe it's too late for that now, but he should still be brought into the team soon." This boy has tremendous potential and should be included in the Indian team soon.'
