In the two-day session of Congress on the banks of Sabarbati river in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, party president Mallikarjun Kharge fiercely attacked the central government. He targeted the issues of election rigging, American tariff, Waqf Amendment Act and democracy. He alleged that today the interference of the government is increasing everywhere. He also said that Congress is fighting the second battle of independence.
EVM is not available anywhere in the world
Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that the election institutions are also under the control of the government. The government is interfering in everything. Scams are being done in elections. He said that with the development of electronic technology, the developed countries of the world have abandoned EVMs and adopted ballot papers.
EVM is not available anywhere in the world. 140 crore people of the country believe in democracy. Today or later the youth of this country will rise and hold your hand. They will say that we do not have EVMs... we should have ballot papers.
BJP won the Maharashtra elections by cheating
Kharge alleged that BJP won Maharashtra assembly elections by cheating. He said that the whole world is moving from EVMs to ballot papers. But we are using EVMs. This is cheating. They ask us to prove it. You have developed such technology which benefits the ruling party. Opposition parties have to suffer losses.
How did the Election Commission prepare the voter list?
Kharge said in his address that what happened in Maharashtra? Rahul Gandhi raised this question in Parliament and press conferences but it did not affect the government. If 50 lakh votes have increased there between the assembly and parliament elections, then what kind of Election Commission is this, how has the voter list been prepared? Fraud was committed in the Maharashtra and Haryana elections.
BJP has been attacking the Constitution for 11 years
The Congress President alleged that in the last 11 years, the ruling party has continuously attacked the Constitution. It is necessary to stop this. We are all ready for this. He said that in the budget session, the government bypassed democratic norms. The Lok Sabha speaker first invited opposition leader Rahul Gandhi to speak. But later he was not allowed to speak. This is shameful in a democracy. Kharge said that if the opposition leader is not allowed to speak in Parliament, then how will the voice of the common people be heard?
Discussion on American tariff not allowed.
Kharge said that America imposed a 26 percent tariff against us. However, the government did not allow any discussion on it in Parliament. We had raised this issue that afternoon.
Capitalists benefited
The Congress president said that we are fighting the second battle of independence. The only difference is that earlier foreigners used to benefit from communalism, but now the government is benefiting. He alleged that a monopoly is being established in the country's economy. Modi government is selling government properties to benefit capitalists.
Want to hide something from the public?
In the convention, Kharge mentioned the Waqf Amendment Act and said that instead of discussing important issues related to the public, the government debated till late night to polarize the community. On important issues like Manipur, the debate started at 4:40 in the morning. I told Shah that we should talk about it the next day. But the government refused. This shows that they want to hide something from the public?
