West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday made a big allegation that outsiders are being brought in to incite riots in the state. She appealed to the people not to quarrel among themselves by getting influenced by the BJP and religious extremists. Let us tell you that Mamata Banerjee is on a two-day tour of the riot-affected areas of Murshidabad district. On Tuesday, she reached Shamsherganj and met the victim's families there. During this, the Chief Minister said, 'Outsiders are being brought to Bengal to incite riots. Do not get provoked by them, do not create divisions among yourselves by listening to the BJP or any religious extremist.'
Waqf Amendment Act will not be implemented in Bengal - Mamata.
During this, CM Mamata also clarified the situation regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act and said that it will not be implemented in Bengal. She said, 'It is wrong to commit violence over this law. There is no question of implementing it in Bengal. I assure everyone that the state government understands your concern.' Let us tell you that in the second week of April, violence broke out in Dhuliyan, Shamsherganj, and Suti of Murshidabad in protest against the Waqf Amendment Act. Three people were killed in these riots, many were also injured.
The victim families will get all possible help - CM.
The Chief Minister assured the victim families of all possible government help. He said, 'The state government is with you. Strict action will be taken against those who have spread violence. No one will be allowed to take the law into their hands.' Mamata Banerjee reached Shamsherganj on Tuesday by helicopter and held a meeting with the victim families at the local block office. She directed the administration to assess the damage and provide relief as soon as possible. A large number of police forces were deployed in the area given the Chief Minister's security. This visit has come at a time when the tension in the district is still not completely over.
Kolkata High Court allowed a demonstration.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata High Court on Tuesday allowed the people of Murshidabad and Malda districts to protest peacefully. This demonstration will be against the violence that took place last month. The court said that a maximum of 200 people will participate in the demonstration and it will have to be over by 4 pm. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh also ordered that there should be no obstruction in the movement of common people and traffic during the demonstration. The protesters have been allowed to submit a memorandum of their demands to the West Bengal Human Rights Commission officer. Although the protesters initially demanded a sit-in in front of the commission's office, after the court's direction, it was decided to organize it near Central Park in Salt Lake with the consent of all the parties.
