Controversy continues over many issues

Since taking over in July 2019, there has been a tussle between Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and the TMC government over several issues including the functioning of universities. Earlier, the West Bengal Assembly had passed a bill to replace the Governor with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the Chancellor of all state-run universities. This was also opposed by the BJP MLAs. Then the education minister of the state had said that if the prime minister can be the chancellor of the central university Vishwa Bharati, then why not the chief minister of the state universities.
