However, Justice Swaran Kanta Sharma rejected Rajpal Yadav's plea for an extension to surrender. The actor subsequently surrendered in Tihar Jail last Thursday.

Rajpal Yadav had borrowed approximately ₹5 crore from a company, M/s Murli Projects Private Limited. The company claims that he issued several cheques to repay the money, but they all bounced. The lower court convicted Rajpal Yadav and sentenced him to 6 months in prison. The High Court had previously suspended his sentence, but stipulated that he would repay the company.
