North Korea has tried to give a big signal by launching two short-range ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan on Monday. While the concern of South Korea and Japan has increased due to this missile launch, America has also been surprised. This is also because North Korea is already facing severe sanctions due to its missile program. Because of how the news of the deteriorating economy of its economy has come to the fore in the international media, doing a missile test four times in this month itself is raising many questions.
Let us tell you that in the year 2017, the last time North Korea tested a ballistic missile, which was said to be successful. After that, now North Korea has launched ballistic missiles, that too not one or two. These missiles were launched from the Pyongyang airfield at an interval of four minutes. After all, what was the need for North Korea to do such an exercise after five years? Japan has the answer to this question. Japan's Chief Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno strongly criticized North Korea's move, saying that it was only a step taken as a pressure strategy on America and other countries. Responding to this, he said that such a move can threaten the security and peace of the region. This is also a matter of concern for the world community.
Let us tell you that in the three tests conducted earlier, North Korea had launched hypersonic missiles, which were said to be capable of nuclear attack. However, none of these were long-range missiles. Hypersonic missiles are known for their tremendous speed. Intercepting it is also not easy. That is why it is also counted among the world's dangerous missiles. A few days ago, North Korea launched two tactical missile trains.
Mason Riche, Professor of Foreign Studies at Hankook University in Seoul, says every missile launch shows the US has failed to impose tough sanctions on North Korea. In his view, the sanctions imposed on North Korea so far have proved to be a failure. Significantly, after the last missile test, sanctions on North Korea were tightened by the US administration. Not only this, there was a discussion about this in the Security Council and strict restrictions were advocated.
It is also necessary to mention here that since the year 2019, till now there have been no talks between North Korea and America regarding the cancellation of the nuclear program. Earlier, during the time of former President Donald Trump, there were two face-to-face talks with North Korea. However, these talks proved unsuccessful both times. Even after this, there was a very short meeting between Kim and Trump. Trump also became the first president to step into the North Korean border while in office.
