Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Rahul Tripathi has performed brilliantly for the team this season. He scored 76 against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, keeping Hyderabad's hopes of reaching the IPL 2022 playoffs alive. After seeing this innings, former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri claimed that the Maharashtra batsman is not far away from being a part of the national team.

Right-handed batsman Rahul Tripathi played brilliant innings of 76 runs in 44 balls with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes. During this, his strike rate was more than 172. To this Ravi Shastri said, "Tripathi is not far away from being a part of the Indian team. He is a dangerous player at No. 3 or 4. If he does well season after season, I am sure the selectors will take it very close." Will see and give them their due soon."

In this season of IPL 2022, Rahul Tripathi has hit three fifties so far and has managed to score 393 runs at a strike rate of over 160 and an average of over 39. Shastri said, "Tripathi is a very confident player. What I like best is that he has a good selection of shots. He hits every bowler understanding their length. He has a good shot with every ball. He's got the shot, so he's an impressive player."

In the 65th league match of IPL 2022 against Mumbai Indians, Rahul Tripathi came out to bat at number three after the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma in the ninth over. He also hit fours and sixes against fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Ravi Shastri has said that if your wickets fall early, they can come at number three and score runs fast.
