Will the G-23 still create a ruckus? Anand Sharma raised the question in front of Sonia Gandhi in the CWC meeting

Posted on 29th Aug 2022 by rohit kumar

Congress has fixed the date for the election of its president. This matter was discussed in the Congress Working Committee meeting held on Sunday and a decision was taken to hold voting on October 17. The votes will be counted on October 19 and the result will be announced. If only one leader applies for the election of the President, then the result will be declared on October 8 itself. But during this also a different view was seen. G-23 group member and senior leader Anand Sharma objected in the meeting that elections are not held for office bearers at the lower level.

Apart from this, he also demanded to provide a list of those representatives who would participate in the election of the President. In this meeting, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Vadra participated in virtual mode from abroad. Apart from this, some members of the Congress Working Committee participated from 24 Akbar Road itself. During this, Anand Sharma raised the question of the election. He said that Article 8 to 13 of the Constitution of Congress states that elections should be held in all primary committees, booth, block, and district committees of the Congress. He sought the intervention of Sonia Gandhi in this matter.

Sonia orders Madhusudan Mistry to address concerns

On this, Sonia Gandhi asked the head of the election committee Madhusudan Mistry to address the concerns of Anand Sharma. Anand Sharma told Economic Times that I had demanded changes under the Constitution itself. He said that I am glad that Sonia Gandhi listened to me and asked Madhusudan Mistry to work on it. On the other hand, Mistry says that the list of representatives who will participate in the election of the President can be found only of the candidates. Apart from this, it can be provided to the leaders demanding the list.

Will the G-23 group again create trouble for Congress?

Many leaders including KC Venugopal, Madhusudan Mistry, and Jairam Ramesh attended this meeting. Please tell that Anand Sharma has also been a part of the G-23 group, which had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi demanding changes. Ghulam Nabi Azad has recently left the Congress and has announced to form his party in Jammu and Kashmir. In such a situation, with the question raised by Anand Sharma, the discussion has again intensified whether the G-23 group will still be a problem for the Congress high command.
