'Women have the potential to lead the food processing industry', PM Modi inaugurates World Food India 2023

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 'World Food India 2023' program at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This is the second edition of World Food India. As part of the program, PM Modi also inaugurated the Food Street. It is known that this program will be organized between November 3 and November 5, after which President Draupadi Murmu will conclude the program.

 

Guests from 80 countries will attend

Guests from many countries have reached Delhi to be a part of this program. According to the information, an attempt will be made to present the heritage of regional cuisine and royal food to the world. More than 200 chefs will participate and present traditional Indian cuisine.

 

Capital assistance given to SHG members

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the process of distribution of initial capital assistance of Rs 380 crore to over 1 lakh SHG members at the inauguration of 'World Food India 2023' in Delhi.

 

India ranks 7th in agricultural exports

PM Modi said, "Exports of processed foods have increased by 150% in the last nine years. Today our agri-exports have reached the 7th position globally. There is no area in the food sector in which India has made progress. This growth may seem rapid, but it is the result of sustained and dedicated efforts. During the tenure of our government, India has implemented an agri-export policy for the first time. We have established a network of logistics and infrastructure across India. Have done."

 

He said, "There is no sector related to the food processing industry in which India has not registered growth. This is a golden opportunity for every company and every startup related to the food sector."

 

Women can lead

Indian women have the natural ability to lead the food processing industry. For this, women, cottage industries, and SHGs are being promoted at every level. There is as much cultural diversity in India as there is food diversity. This diversity of our food is beneficial for every investor in the world.

Three main factors of growth

Rapid urbanization is taking place in India and along with increasing employment opportunities, the demand for packaged food is also increasing. Coarse grain will reach every corner of the country

Referring to coarse grains, PM Modi said, "Millets are a part of our 'superfood bucket'. In India, we have given it the identity of a grain. On the initiative of India, today once again an awareness campaign about millets has started in the world. I am confident that just as International Yoga Day took Yoga to every corner of the world, now Millets will also reach every corner of the world."

 

Test and technology will give birth to a new future

PM Modi said, "This fusion of taste and technology will give birth to a new future, will give impetus to a new economy. In today's changing world, food security is one of the major challenges of the 21st century, hence World Food This event of India has become even more important."

 

He said, "In the last 9 years, FDI worth Rs 50 thousand crore has come in the food industry sector. This is the result of the pro-industry and pro farmers policies of the Government of India. We have introduced the PLI scheme for the food processing sector. Has started."

 

80 crore population is getting free ration

At the inauguration of 'World Food India 2023', Union Food Processing Industries Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras said, "Under the visionary leadership of the PM, the food processing sector is showing unprecedented confidence. With his blessings, 80 crore people out of the country's 140 crore population will be provided free food." Ration is being given. You must have seen that earlier there were deaths due to hunger, but now no one dies of hunger."

 

The ‘World Food India 2023’ program aims to project India as the food basket of the world and also celebrate 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets’.
