Delhi Firecrackers Ban: People waiting to burst crackers on Diwali in Delhi have got a shock. The Supreme Court has refused to interfere in the Delhi government's decision to ban the use of all types of firecrackers in Delhi on Diwali.
The Supreme Court (SC on Firecrackers) has also rejected the petition demanding the manufacture and use of firecrackers using barium. The central government and firecracker manufacturers had informed the SC about the process of manufacturing and selling these firecrackers. Both had requested approval for their construction.
What did the Supreme Court say?
The Supreme Court (SC on Firecrackers) said that barium-containing firecrackers will be banned everywhere in the country. No one can burn crackers made of barium. However, the Supreme Court said that green firecrackers can be burnt everywhere except Delhi-NCR.
Along with this, the ban on firecrackers like sticks and rockets will remain intact.
Kejriwal government banned firecrackers
Delhi's Kejriwal government recently banned the manufacture, sale, and hoarding of firecrackers in the state. The court had earlier also said that people's health is important, not burning firecrackers. The Supreme Court had said that the decision taken by the government should be strictly followed.
