NATO Defense Ministers will meet first

He calls it a threat to his national security. He also cites this as a major reason for the attack on Ukraine. Russia shares its 1,300 km-long border with Finland. For that Finland is a buffer zone. Russia does not want NATO to come so close to it. That is why Russia opposes Finland going to NATO as well.
At present, NATO member countries Norway, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have a border of about 1,200 km with Russia. If Finland also joins NATO, it will double.
What is an open-door policy
According to NATO, any European state can apply for NATO membership through the open-door policy. After this, according to the basic principles of NATO Collective Defense, the member will help the country in case of trouble. Collective defense means - an attack on one or more members will be considered an attack on all the member countries.
