IND vs AUS: Rohit Sharma is just two shots away from making a world record in T20I cricket, ready to overtake Martin Guptill

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is just two shots away from making the world record for most sixes in the history of T20 International cricket. Rohit can achieve this feat in the three-match T20 series against Australia in Mohali from Tuesday. The second T20 match between India and Australia is to be played in Nagpur on 23 September and then the third in Hyderabad on 25 September. However, in the first match of the series itself, all eyes will be on 'Hitman' Rohit, who not only would like to make this world record but would also like to win his team.

Currently, New Zealand's explosive batsman Martin Guptill holds the record for hitting the most sixes in T20 International cricket. Guptill has hit 172 sixes in T20I cricket so far. At the same time, Rohit is at number two in this case with 171 sixes. West Indies Chris Gayle (124) is third, former England captain Eoin Morgan (120) is fourth and Australia's captain Aaron Finch (117) is at number five.

The year 2022 has been great for Rohit so far. He has scored 423 runs in 17 matches at an average of 26.43. In this, two half-centuries have also come from his bat and his best has been 72 runs. Rohit has hit 21 sixes so far this year. Both these series are like a practice match for Team India and captain Rohit before the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia from October 16.
