After Imran, now there is a cloud of crisis on Shahbaz's government, there is a possibility of differences with allies

After the ouster of Imran Khan from the power of Pakistan, the new government led by Shahbaz Sharif is also in trouble. Now the Shahbaz government also looks unstable as the political parties which were once enemies of each other have now come together but till now differences are visible.

 

Many ministers are tainted and some cases are going on

 

According to Islam Khabar, there are two main reasons for the instability of the government of Pakistan. First, many ministers in the new government are from tainted backgrounds and some are facing corruption and other serious charges. Whereas Shahbaz Sharif himself is also named on the list of corrupt. He was accused of fraud and dishonesty causing a loss of PKR 193 million to the national exchequer.

 

The conflict between coalition parties

 

The second main reason is the inherent rivalry between the two major coalition partners – the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has decided to stay out of the government, indicating that the PPP would not like to play a second role for the PML-N. This can be a major source of conflict, leading to an unstable government.

 

A long list of allegations against ministers

 

Apart from Shahbaz, his brother Nawaz Sharif had to resign from the post of Prime Minister following his disqualification by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Panama Papers case. New Finance Minister Mifta Ismail was accused of embezzlement in a USD 16 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) import contract with Qatar in 2019.

 

In addition, Pakistan's new Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah (PML-N) was indicted by a Pakistani court in February 2021 in a drug-related case after 15 kg of heroin and weapons were found in his possession.

 

differences between departments

 

According to Pakistani media, differences are going on between the PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), an ally of the Shahbaz government, over the allocation of cabinet ministers and portfolios. However, the Pak PM says that the division of departments has been done with the consent of all.
