Passengers are angry over the last-minute cancellation of Air India Express flights. On Wednesday, angry passengers protested at all the airports in Kerala. Most of the passengers were traveling to Gulf countries.

The passengers claimed that after the security check was completed, they were informed about the flight cancellation while they were waiting to board the plane. However, Air India Express has asked the passengers to refund the full amount or travel on some other date, but the passengers are not happy with it.
Fear of visa expiry
Many of them claimed they could lose their jobs if they did not reach their workplace today, while some others were facing expiring work visas. A woman had to go from Kannur to Sharjah with her twin children and husband. When the flight was canceled, he said that he had to reach work on May 9, but Air India Express was offering a flight from Kochi on May 10.
He said, 'What will be the meaning of my traveling on May 10? If I do not reach there before May 9, my boss will ask me not to come and thus I will lose my job.
Similar concerns were raised by many others who have to report back for duty at their workplaces in Gulf countries today or tomorrow and failing which they may lose their jobs.
The woman also said that she had been waiting at the airport since Tuesday night when her flight was scheduled to depart for Sharjah. He complained that he was not provided accommodation or any other facilities by the airline.

Another woman had booked a ticket on Air India Express to meet her hospitalized husband in Muscat. The woman, distressed by the flight cancellation, said she was informed about the flight cancellation when she reached Kannur airport in the morning. Amrita said, 'I was supposed to fly to Muscat at around 8 am today, but the flight got canceled. I need to reach Muscat as my husband has been admitted to the hospital. After a lot of arguing with the airline staff, I have got a ticket for tomorrow. Passengers are being told that there are no tickets till May 17 and refunds will be given after 14 days.
Bought a ticket for Rs 37,000
One person had to travel urgently from Kannur to Sharjah on Tuesday night. He did not wait for the ticket to be canceled and instead immediately bought a departure ticket on an Indigo flight for Rs 37,000. He said, 'There was a fight going on at the ticket counter. So, I immediately bought a ticket worth Rs 37,000 to go by Indigo flight.
Passengers' anger was also seen at Kochi, Kozhikode, and Thiruvananthapuram airports in the state. Some passengers were traveling with small children.
