
Three states, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka, are witnessing violent clashes between Hindus and Muslims. Tensions between the two communities escalated during temple worship and mosque prayers in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
Meanwhile, in Karnataka's Bagalkot district, members of the Muslim community pelted stones at a Shivaji Jayanti procession. Incidents of communal tension were also reported during religious events in Hyderabad's Amberpet district.
What happened in Hyderabad?
A Shivaji Jayanti procession was passing in front of the Jama Masjid in Amberpet, Hyderabad. Ramadan prayers were being held at the mosque at the same time. An altercation broke out between the two groups over loud music and sloganeering. A YouTuber filming the procession was allegedly attacked by the mob.
Following this, tensions escalated between the two communities. Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Amberpet police said, "A YouTuber was filming a video near the Jama Masjid in Amberpet. He was attacked by people. Coincidentally, a Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj procession was passing by, and both groups were raising slogans. Our police officers were on the spot and controlled the situation."
Police further said, "The situation is currently under control, and we have not received any complaints from anyone."
Tension near a mosque in Bagalkot, Karnataka
A Jayanti procession was passing near a mosque in Bagalkot, Karnataka, when the procession was pelted with stones. Hindu organizations alleged that a stone flew from the mosque. Police have dispersed all the people gathered on both sides, and the situation is under control.
Bagalkot SP Siddharth Goyal said, "Stone pelting took place during the Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti procession. Stones were also thrown at us, but no one was injured. We will arrest the culprits and take strict action."
What happened in Jabalpur?
On Thursday night, prayers were being held at the Durga Temple at Azad Chowk in the Sihora area of Jabalpur. Meanwhile, prayers were being offered at the mosque. During the prayers, an altercation broke out between members of both communities. A young man attempted to damage the grille of the Durga Temple, enraging Hindu youths.
A scuffle broke out between them. Shortly after, several Muslim youths arrived and began entering the temple premises. The dispute escalated, leading to a violent altercation between the two sides. Police arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the incident.
Tear gas shells were fired to control the rioters, dispersing the crowd. The situation was subsequently brought under control. In view of the tension, a large number of forces have been deployed in the area.
