The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has summoned the Global Senior Vice President and 'Country Head' of Amazon India in connection with the alleged financial assistance to 'All India Mission, an organization involved in 'illegal activities. The NCPCR has warned that if Amazon India's country head Amit Agarwal does not appear before it before November 1, legal action will be taken.
All India Mission involved in illegal activities
The commission has alleged that the 'All India Mission is involved in illegal activities. The NCPCR, in a letter to Amazon India, said it had asked the company to look into the matter and provide information about the All India Mission and other orphanages funded by it. The commission has asked to submit the action taken report within seven days. However, till now no reply has been received from your office on the matter.
The commission had sought clarification by sending a notice
On September 16, the commission sent a notice to Amazon India seeking an explanation from it on the alleged funding of the All India Mission. The child rights body, in its notice, said it has received a complaint from an NGO Social Justice Forum, Arunachal Pradesh, alleging that the All India Mission is indulging in "illegal activities" of "illegal conversion of children in India". All India Mission is an NGO registered in US and UK.
