BAN vs IRE: Mushfiqur Rahim completes century on the last ball, records against Ireland

Veteran Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim created history by scoring a century in the second ODI against Ireland on Monday. Rahim completed his century on the last ball of Bangladesh's innings. Mushfiqur Rahim has become the fastest batsman to score an ODI century from Bangladesh.

 

Rahim completed his century in 60 balls with the help of 14 fours and two sixes. This was the 9th century of his ODI career. Before Rahim, the record of scoring the fastest ODI century from Bangladesh was recorded in the name of Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib scored a century in 63 balls against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in 2009.

 

completed 7000 runs

Mushfiqur Rahim completed 7000 runs in his ODI career during this innings. He became the third Bangladeshi batsman after Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan to score 7000 or more runs in ODI cricket. Mushfiqur Rahim needed 55 runs to complete 7000 runs in ODI cricket. He crossed this figure by collecting a boundary in the 44th over of the innings by Curtis Campher.

 

Bangladesh's biggest score

Along with Mushfiqur Rahim, the Bangladesh cricket team has also set a record. Bangladesh made its biggest score in ODI cricket. The hosts scored 349 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs against Ireland in Sylhet today. Earlier, Bangladesh's best score was against Ireland at this ground two days back. Then Bangladesh scored 338 runs losing 8 wickets in 50 overs.

 

Tamim Iqbal became the first batsman

Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal has become the first player from the country to score 15,000 or more runs in international cricket. Tamim Iqbal, who made his debut for Bangladesh in 2007, scored 23 off 31 balls in the second ODI against Ireland. He became the 40th batsman in the world to score 15,000 or more runs in international cricket. The left-handed batsman has scored 15,009 runs in 383 international matches.
