Farmers will block the main roads of the country from 12 noon to 4 pm on Friday. At the same time, Bharat Bandh has been announced by the Central Government to fulfill its demands. Let us tell you that Bharat Bandh was announced when hundreds of farmers marching from Punjab were stopped at the Haryana border near Ambala. It has also been named Gramin Bharat Bandh.
What services will be affected during the bandh?
Many government offices and private offices may remain closed today during the nationwide lockdown. Apart from this, transport, agricultural activities, Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), rural works, village shops, private offices, and rural industrial and service sector institutions are likely to remain closed today.
Which services will not be affected by Bharat Bandh?
During the nationwide bandh by farmers, many such services will not be affected. During Bharat Bandh, emergency services, ambulances, newspaper distribution, marriages, medical stores, students going for board exams, schools and airports, etc. will not be affected. Banks will remain open tomorrow and will function normally. The holiday matrix of the Reserve Bank of India also states that banks will remain open. Banks in India will remain closed for 10 days in February. Apart from the second and fourth Saturdays, these holidays also include Sundays.
What are the demands of the farmers?
Farmers are on the streets of Punjab and Haryana demanding a law guaranteeing MSP for their produce. At the same time, United Kisan Morcha has also written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It has been said that there has been a demand for minimum support prices for crops, a legal guarantee of purchase, a loan waiver, and no increase in electricity.
Apart from this, farmers have also demanded 300 units of free electricity for domestic use, shops, and farming. There has also been a demand for comprehensive crop insurance and an increase in pension by Rs 10,000 per month. On the other hand, farmers also say that the government is not fulfilling the promises made to us, hence we are forced to do this movement.
