Now more and more hospitals will be able to provide cashless treatment to patients. The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of India (IRDA) have given the freedom to insurance companies to empanel hospitals at will.
Companies will have to formulate a policy at the board level. After that, they can bring any hospital on the panel. With this decision, the rules for cashless facilities have been simplified.

18% GST is applicable on health insurance premium
IRDA said that the policy of the board should take care of minimum manpower and health-related infrastructure in the hospital. Along with this, it is also necessary to put the rules of the panel approved by the board on the website of the companies from time to time.
The health insurance premium will be expensive
The GST Council has recently approved the imposition of 5% GST on rooms having rent above Rs 5,000 per day. This can make health insurance expenses.
GST of 18 percent is also applicable on health insurance premiums. Due to this, insurance companies will also have to make changes to the hospital package.
Must follow board's policies
IRDA said that only those hospitals will be included in the panel, which will follow the rules framed by the board of insurance companies. Insurance companies say that the insurance business is continuously improving. With this circular, insurance will now be accessible to more hospitals in most areas. This will also increase the reach of insurance to more and more people.
