The survey report of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) may end the 355-year-long dispute over Gyanvapi. This dispute has been going on since 1669. The case has been pending in the court for 33 years. The parties are likely to receive this report on Thursday, then the further legal battle will be decided.
However, the survey report will pave the way for a solution. Based on the survey, the parties will make claims and present evidence before the court. The court will pass the final order only based on evidence.
According to ASI sources, the evidence collected through Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology will prove to be important on scientific grounds. A team of ASI experts has done survey work in the Gyanvapi complex in July, August, September, October, and November 2023.
Evidence has been collected from every corner of the premises except the sealed bathroom. The soil was examined. Photographs and videography of the symbols made on the walls were done. It was also noted in which century the insignia were made.
A lot of evidence has been found from the basements of Gyanvapi, which tells about the historical, cultural, and religious heritage. Allahabad High Court has already said that the Places of Worship Act does not apply in the case of Gyanvapi, hence the court will not face any problem in giving orders based on evidence.
Aurangzeb had demolished the temple
Hindu side's advocate Sudhir Tripathi claims that Mughal ruler Aurangzeb had demolished the Gyanvapi temple in 1669. The upper part of the temple was given the form of a mosque. Three domes were built for this. There is another Shivalinga below the main dome. There is a thumping sound. Shivalinga has been found in a sealed bathroom. The truth will come out from the survey report.
Will fight a legal battle, fear of worsening the atmosphere
SM Yasin, Joint Secretary of Anjuman Intejamia Masjid Committee, claims that Gyanvapi was built before the tenure of Akbar. There is evidence for this also. Aurangzeb's rule came later. There is a fountain in the bathroom. Will apply for a copy of the survey report on Thursday. We wanted that the survey report should not be made public. The other party will misuse it. Will distort and present the facts. This will spoil the atmosphere. Now that the order has come, further legal battles will be fought after obtaining the copy.
