Dhanteras 2023 Subh Muhurat: The five-day festival of lights starts from Dhanteras. Before Diwali, people do shopping on Dhanteras so that Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber can reside in the house. This year Dhanteras is on 10th November, Kuber ji is worshiped on this day. According to astrology, this year a lot of auspicious yogas are being formed on Dhanteras. In such a situation, some zodiac signs may get special benefits. Dhanteras has special significance in Hindu religion. Buying gold and silver and other things on this day is considered auspicious. Dhanteras is one of the major festivals of Hindus which is celebrated with immense joy and enthusiasm across the country. People worship Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, and Lord Kuber. This day is also celebrated as Dhanvantari Jayanti. Dhanteras is going to be celebrated on Trayodashi date, hence it is also known as Dhantrayodashi. According to astrology, the day of Dhanteras is very special this year, because there has been a change in the position of many planets. Great coincidences are taking place on Dhantrayodashi

The great conjunction of Shukra Pradosh and Vish Kumbh Yoga is happening simultaneously with Dhantrayodashi. In such a situation, if any work is done during Taurus ascendant, it comes to a halt. In such a situation, purchasing gold, silver or anything else during this time will prove to be very auspicious and fruitful. Apart from this, worshiping Goddess Lakshmi during this time will also bring blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. On the day of Dhanteras, apart from Dhanvantari, the physician of the gods, there is also a tradition of worshiping Goddess Lakshmi. Apart from this, shopping also has special significance on this day.

 

Auspicious time for shopping on Dhanteras

It is considered good to do shopping during auspicious time on Dhanteras. According to the Panchang, the auspicious time for shopping is from 12:35 pm on Dhanteras day i.e. 10th November till the morning of the next day i.e. 11th November.

 

Dhanteras Lakshmi Puja Muhurta

Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber are worshiped on the holy festival of Dhanteras. The auspicious time for Lakshmi Puja on Dhanteras will be from 05:48 pm to 07:47 pm on Friday, November 10.

Pradosh Kaal-: 17:30 to 20:08

Taurus ascendant time: 17:48 to 19:44

The total duration of Dhanteras puja is 01 hour 56 minutes.

 

Rules related to Dhanteras

 

Dhanteras is celebrated on Udayvyapini Trayodashi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik. Here Udayvyapini Trayodashi means that, if Trayodashi tithi starts with sun rise, then Dhanteras should be celebrated.

 

On the day of Dhan Teras, a lamp is also donated to Yamraj during Pradosh Kaal (three moments after sunset). If Trayodashi Tithi touches Pradosh Kaal on both the days or does not, then in both the cases lamp donation is done on the second day.

 

Worship method of Dhanteras:

 

The greatest wealth of human life is good health, hence this festival should be celebrated on the incarnation day of Ayurveda's God Dhanvantari i.e. Dhan Teras to attain wealth in the form of health.

 

There is a tradition of Shodashopachar worship of Dhanvantari Dev on Dhanteras. Shodashopachar means completing the puja with 16 rituals.

 

These include asana, padya, arghya, achaman (scented drinking water), bath, clothes, jewellery, smell (saffron-sandalwood), flowers, incense, lamp, naivedya, achaman (pure water), dakshinayukta tambul, aarti, parikrama etc.

 

There is a tradition of buying brass and silver utensils on Dhanteras. It is believed that buying utensils brings prosperity. On this basis it is called Dhan Trayodashi or Dhanteras.

 

On this day, lamps should be lit at the main entrance and courtyard of the house in the evening. Because the festival of Diwali begins from Dhanteras.

 

On the day of Dhanteras, a lamp is donated in the evening for Lord Yama. It is believed that by doing this one gets freedom from the fear of Yamraj, the god of death.

 

What to buy on Dhanteras

  Buying new things like gold, silver, brass on the day of Dhanteras is considered very auspicious. Apart from this, buying coriander and broom on this day is also very auspicious.

 

Why is Dhanteras celebrated?

Dhanteras is celebrated as the day of appearance of Dhanvantari. It is said that two days before Diwali, Dhanvantari Dev had appeared with the nectar pot from the churning of the ocean. Therefore Dhanteras is also called Dhanvantari Jayanti.

 

What to buy and what not to buy on Dhanteras?

It is auspicious to buy gold, silver and brass items, and brooms on the day of Dhanteras. Black or dark colored items, items made of porcelain, glass, aluminum and iron should not be purchased on this day.

 

Which broom to buy on Dhanteras?

On the day of Dhanteras, buy a broom with flowers i.e. the one with which the house is swept. According to tradition and beliefs, brooms should always be bought in odd numbers (i.e. 1, 3, 5) on the day of Dhanteras.

 

Why are brooms bought on Dhanteras?

According to the belief behind buying a broom on the day of Dhanteras, it is said that it brings Goddess Lakshmi to the house, removes negativity from the house, and makes Goddess Lakshmi happy.
