Corona is starting to scare again. Within the last 24 hours, 56 people in the country have lost their lives due to infection. 2380 people have come under its grip. The situation is uncontrollable in 36 districts of nine states of the country. The positivity rate here is more than five percent. This means that out of every 100 people who get tested for corona, five or more are being found infected.

In such a situation, the question has started to arise can the restrictions increase once again? Is this the fourth wave? If the cases keep increasing, can the government consider imposing a lockdown again? What does the health ministry say?

The Union Health Ministry has released its weekly report. In this, the positivity rate of the corona has been told in all the districts of the country. These figures are from 13 to 19 April. According to this, there are 36 districts in nine states of the country where the infection rate has exceeded five percent.

Which district of which state of North India is vulnerable to infection?

State District and Positivity Rate (%)

Uttar Pradesh Gautam Budh Nagar (Noida) 10.61%

Delhi South (7.82%), West (6.30%), South West (5.78%), North West (5.75%), East (5.36%)

Haryana Gurugram (11.07%), Faridabad (7.19%)

Himachal Pradesh Kinnaur (6.82%)

Many districts of these states are also in the grip

The infection is spreading rapidly in 14 districts of Kerala. Here the positivity rate ranges from 14 percent to 31.64 percent. At number two are eight districts of Mizoram. Here in seven districts, the positivity rate is more than 10 percent, while in one it is 6.87%. Apart from this, two districts of Manipur, two of Meghalaya, and one district of Arunachal Pradesh are included.

What do the country's overall figures say?

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 13 thousand 433 active cases in the country. That is, the treatment of these patients is going on. The recovery rate i.e. the recovery rate of patients is 98.76 percent. Meaning 98.76 people are getting cured in every 100 patients. Now if we look at the daily positivity rate ie the number of patients getting daily, then it is 0.53%. On Wednesday, 4.49 lakh people were screened across the country and 0.53% of them were found infected. At the same time, the weekly positivity rate is 0.43%.

Will, there be a lockdown again, what does the rule say?

In January this year, because of the increasing cases of Omicron, the Delhi government had taken a big decision. The Graded Response Action (GRAP) prepared for the Covid Management of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had said that if the positivity rate is five percent or more for two consecutive days, then the lockdown can be imposed.

However, there is no clear guideline from the central level regarding the lockdown. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) senior scientist Dr. Rajinikanth says, 'Lockdown is the last option. It is imposed in a situation when it seems that without it now the infection cannot be stopped.

According to Dr. Rajinikanth, 'No lockdown can be imposed by the central government now. Initially, the central government imposed a lockdown because at that time we did not have testing, hospital beds, vaccines, and other resources to fight corona. Today you have everything. Most of the population has got the vaccine. The process of vaccination in children has also accelerated.

On the question of lockdown in the state and districts, Dr. Rajinikanth said, 'It is for the state government and the district officer to decide that if the positivity rate of the corona is increasing in them, then how to stop it? For this, they have many options. For example, he can create a containment zone. May impose other restrictions like a night curfew. If despite this the cases are not stopping, then you can also decide to impose a lockdown at the district level.

How will Corona be controlled?

The covid protocol will have to be followed. Mask, take care of social distancing.

Don't go out unless necessary.

Be careful when you go out. Avoid learning in crowded areas.

If you have not been vaccinated yet, get vaccinated. After both the doses, a booster dose can also be administered.
